Question
I'm selling an iphone on ebay and someone from CA wants to buy it with a moneygram help is this a scam?
Hey everyone this is my first time asking a question here, hopefully you guys can answer it. Anyways I'm selling a 32gb iPhone 3GS on ebay and I started the auction at 500.00 and noone has bid on it yet, but I got the west africa email scam thing and I ignored it, but then someone from victorville CA emails me and asks if they can buy it using a moneygram payment and asks how much Id be willing to sell it for including shipping, so I reply back and say 700 bucks. So this person replies and asks me to send them an e-mail with my name, address, state, and item number from ebay to them so they can moneygram me the payment. Now correct me if I'm wrong but when they moneygram money to me and I go to say...wal-mart to pick it up, once I go there and pick it up it comes in cash does it not? If so I wouldnt have anything to worry about right? I'm definetly not sending the item out unless I get cash in my hand from it, so...do I have anything to worry about here if I give my name and address and all that? I recently moved to a state that borders my old state, only bout 30 mile move....so my state ID is from my old state but I actually would be going to the walmart in this new state, so if I do give my name and address should I give the address thats old from my old state....its the one listed on my ID, that way when I go to pick up money (if i do it) they wont question me, even though I dont live at that old address. Puzzled!!!! Help guys! Thanks in advance!

90% chance of scam. The world of "moneygrams" is the world of scammers. A good laser printer will produce a moneygram that will fool any banker. The bank will cash the moneygram. They will call you in 2 weeks to tell you that it is a counterfeit. Your item will be gone and you will have no money.

As long as he doesn't ask you to return part of his payment back to you it should be OK. That's the scammers red flag
